MALVERN Town Town put themselves into the Travel Factory Alliance promotion mix after a 2-1 victory over fellow high flyers Stourbridge last night.

Second-half goals from Chris Jones and Dean Roberts saw Neil Hunt's side, missing Nathan Jukes, Nick Clayton and Simon Judge, claw their way back from a first-half deficit to claim three points at the Langland Stadium.

Manager Hunt said: "It was a fantastic result. We were always on the front foot, we were the better side over the 90 minutes and deservedly won the game.

"We really scrapped and Chris Jones played really well in the centre of midfield. We bullied them and they didn't like it.

"As soon as we got the first goal there was only going to be one winner."

Tim Nicholls put Stourbridge ahead on 32 minutes, a lead held by the Glassboys until Jones struck just after the hour. Roberts came up with the winner 12 minutes from time.

The result moves Malvern level on points with fourth placed Quorn and to within a point of last night's opponents and highlights them as a genuine threat to Chasetown's seven-point cushion at the top of the table.

"It puts us in the championship race," Hunt added. "We seem to compete against the better sides in this league but we have got to start picking up points against the lesser sides.

"If we put in the level of performance that we showed last night there's no reason why we can't finish in the top three or four in this league."
