Wilmcote S&S 0 Barnt Green Spartak 1 (AET)
DEFENDER Simon Campbell was the hero for Green as he pounced to grab a late winner in the Smedley Crooke Charity Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
Campbell headed in the winner in the 119th minute to book the injury ravaged side's place in the last four.
Now Spartak will take on the winners of Ledbury and Northfield Town in February.
Manager GJ Singh was delighted with his side's dogged performance, especially after criticising his team for their lacklustre defeat to Nuneaton Griff last week.
He said: "It was exactly the sort of performance I was looking for.
"The work effort was top notch and every player gave their all."
So stretched was Green's squad that Singh was forced to name himself amongst the substitutes.
Green's progress was then hampered as Karrol Hamber and Neil Ward had to come off with injuries.
However, Campbell had the last laugh in the penultimate minute of extra time as he head home Kieron Holland's free-kick.
The manager was relieved as he had started to strip off his track suit in readiness to come on as a substitute.
He said: "As soon as I got ready the referee blew for full time, so it was something of a relief.
"We also have a very poor track record in penalties and I'm glad we didn't have to go through them."
Singh's squad though is down to the bare bones after hearing Hamber could be out of action for a month because of a hamstring problem.
However, influential midfielder Rodalph Richards has served the suspension which forced him out of the cup game and is set to start Saturday's home game against Dudley Sports (2pm kick off).
Captain Zahoor Suliman's suspension keeps him from the clash, but the manager is confident - despite a depleted squad.
He said: "I don't think it's so bad that I will have to be a sub again.
"Even with injuries I am confident the players that did so well against Wilmcote will see us through."
