WITH the incredible success of the first Medal Of Honor: Frontline, this eagerly-awaited sequel had a lot to live up to.
Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun is set initially in Pearl Harbour, before moving on to some great locations such as Singapore, the Phillipines, Burma and Guadalcanal.
The game itself is mainly played on foot, much like the previous Medal Of Honor games. However, the landscape has made a dramatic change.
Players will play out their missions on a variety of terrain, such as cliffs, hills, in the jungle, and even in an urban environment.
The A.I has been specially catered for each environment. For example, if fighting your way through a jungle, the Japanese use tactics such as spider holes, to catch you unawares.
The authenticity of weapons, on Rising Sun, is a definite bonus, featuring around 20 different guns and explosive devices.
Weapons also react to the time and place in which they are used, which really gives an accurate feel to the game.
Movement is smooth, however the level design is linear. There are moments in the game where a choice is given but whichever is chosen effects very little in the gameplay.
Gamers who found Frontline difficult will be disappointed with this game purely because of the ease with which it can be completed. This is a game that should be played for its authenticity and amazing scenery yet, sadly, nothing else.
Overall 6/10.
