REDDITCH District Council's health committee are agreed on the principle that a modern up-to-date abattoir or slaughterhouse is needed to serve the town and at their meeting last Wednesday, it was recommended that the sanitary inspector be instructed to arrange butchers and farmers in the town and district.
Councillor RDD Griffin said there was a demand in the town for a centralised slaughterhouse but he could see little hope of adapting any existing building for there was a difficult sewerage problem to overcome.
A new building would cost a considerable amount of money.
