YOUNGSTERS are warned to be on their guard after two separate reports of Droitwich Spa schoolgirls being approached by men.

The most recent incident happened on Monday evening at about 5.15pm.

A man shouted and ran towards a schoolgirl on the Astroturf of the Droitwich Sports and Leisure Centre, in Briar Mill.

The girl ran off and was followed for a short distance, but he disappeared soon after. He did not touch her and she was not hurt.

A police spokesman said: "This was a frightening experience for this young girl and we are anxious to identify and apprehend this man as quickly as possible.

"Any help the community can provide will greatly assist our enquiries."

The man is described as white, about 35-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He had a bald, possibly shaved head and was wearing a dark knee-length coat, believed to be leather, and dark trousers.

Police are also hunting a second man who made lewd comments to a Droitwich High schoolgirl from a white car on December 8.

The motorist, possibly behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa, drove up to the girl, who was walking home from school along Westwood Road, on the Westlands estate, at about 3.55pm.

She ran away immediately and the man drove away. He is described as white, in his late 30s and quite fat, with a large face. He had dark hair, was clean-shaven and wearing a white shirt and small, trendy glasses.

The Briar Mill school immediately sent out letters to the parents of all pupils regarding the incident and asking for any other incidents or sightings to be reported.

However, the school did not wish to comment further at the time that the Advertiser went to press.

A police spokesman said two men had been interviewed as a result of initial inquiries but they were later ruled out of the investigation.

He said they would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description of this man or the vehicle.
