YEARS of lobbying to cut speed limits on a "hazardous" Bidford road may soon pay off.
Investigations are under way for a village speed review scheme on the B439 from Stratford to Salford Priors, via Bidford.
Consultations are currently taking place between Warwickshire County Council, Stratford District Council, the area's parish councils and Warwickshire police.
The county's 'A' roads have already undergone a review and the B439 is the first 'B' road to be assessed.
County councillor Peter Barnes said he was thrilled at the news after years of lobbying to cut speeds on the road.
He said: "Speeding is one of the biggest problems on this road, which has lots of tight bends and is hazardous to the motorist.
"We have already carried out some speed checks, so we're not going into this investigation cold."
Warwickshire County Council's speed review project leader, Katrina Pedlar, said the county council planned to monitor the road with a view to lowering the limit from 60 to 50 mph.
