VINTAGE car enthusiasts have helped put Operation Covert on the road to success with a generous donation towards our appeal.
Bridgnorth Vintage Machinery Club donated £200 as a thank you to district Scouts, who help organise one of its major rallies.
The club, whose members own everything from classic cars to steam engines, welcomes a great deal of members from Wyre Forest, said vice-president, Ken Briggs.
He explained: "We were aware of all the problems with Rhydd Covert and their shortage of money.
The club gives surplus money to the County Air Ambulance but, on this occasion, we decided to give so much to the Air Ambulance and give the rest to other charities nominated by members. Two of our members nominated the Rhydd Covert appeal."
He said the club was happy to help contribute towards the fund as district Scouts helped steward a rally held at Bite Farm, in Trimpley, in August.

Home-made jam creates cashpot
GREEN-FINGERED members of Kidderminster Horticultural Society also got their fingers sticky thanks to home-made jam which helped raise more than £150 for Operation Covert.
A member of the society made the jam which, along with a whip round at a society talk, raised vital cash for our Scout appeal.
Treasurer Olive Morris said: "As a society we do make donations, we normally open our gardens to the public and proceeds go to selected groups and charities.
"We do like to do our bit towards anything that is going on in Wyre Forest."

Shed pounds to raise pounds for appeal
ANYONE who ate too much over the holiday period is being urged to get trim for the New Year with a sponsored slim in aid of Operation Covert.
A drive to shed pounds to raise pounds has been launched, with slimmers asked to collect sponsorship to reach their target weight by the end of April.
About 20 determined slimmers have so far signed up for the challenge, organised by district commissioner for Kidderminster Beaver Scouts, Ann Denton. She said anyone taking part would be given guidance on the kind of weight loss plans available.
She explained: "They might want to do it with a slimming organisation and just want to join us for the element of losing weight. This is an incentive for all of us to lose weight after Christmas. If anybody is interesting in joining us then they would be more than welcome."
The group meets every Monday at the Three Crowns and Sugar Loaf pub in Wolverley Road, Franche, Kidderminster at 9.30pm. For more information call 01562 829577.
l A leading Liberal councillor has joined a host of politicians who have contributed to our appeal.
Long-standing Liberal Party member, Fran Oborski, said she was happy to help restore the facility to Rhydd Covert.
