STOURPORT'S budding farmers' market project looks like being put on the back burner unless an enterprising person can be found to take on the task of running it.
A successful trial market was held in the town in October last year, attracting 1,000 visitors, but the co-operative which had organised it on behalf of Stourport Forward is unable to take on the job on a regular basis.
Derek Fradgley, chairman of Stourport Forward, said: "It was really successful and bought a lot of people into the town.
"One of the stallholders said he had done more business in two hours than he had all day at a previous market."
Organisers, however, were over-committed on a Saturday - the preferred day - running markets at Tenbury Wells and Bromsgrove and could not take on organising one at Stourport, Mr Fradgley said.
He is appealing to anyone in Wyre Forest, perhaps from the farming community, with an interest in running the market to get in touch.
Mr Fradgley can be reached on 01299 825255.
