ANDY Grubb took the scoring honours in the Stratford Alliance last Saturday with a fabulous eight-goal haul as Alcester Lions banged in a deadly dozen against Badsey United Reserves.
A quartet of fellow Herald Division One sides also hit the goal trail with a vengeance in the same R M Smith Cup competition.
Cubbington Albion defeated Red Alert 9-3 with trebles for Phil Hollingsworth and Law-rence Peach, Broadway United won 8-0 at Welford with Mark Evans leading the way with a hat-trick, while Tony Egan hit a triple blast as Studley Nags Head defeated Badsey Rangers Reserves 5-0.
The latter's senior side overcame fellow Journal Premier Division side Stratford Spartak by the odd goal of three thanks to goals from Adam Slade and Jason Powell. Rob Short replied for the visitors.
Top flight Henley Forest were held 2-2 by Shipston Excelsior, while the all Premier Division clash at Halfords saw the hosts get the better of a ten-goal spectacular against fellow summit side Ilmington. Matt Hill scored four times for the winners.
Quinton were pushed all the way by first division basement outfit Tysoe United who lost out by the odd goal in five, while the afternoon's biggest surprise saw top flight FISSC lose 5-4 at second division Blockley for whom Shaun Stanley bagged a treble.
Trevor Towler was another hat-trick hero as his goals helped Halfords Reserves to a 4-1 victory over Kenilworth Town B.
Dog and Pheasant were another to claim a scalp from a higher division as they easily disposed of Bodrum with five players finding the net.
Ilmington's second string also caused a shock as they won 2-1 against FISSC Reser-ves.
While Alcester Lions were making knockout progress, they were being knocked off top spot in the first division after Bidford hit five at Henley Forest with Darren Andrews another of the day's hat-trick men.
