A VALE pensioner has gone missing from his home for more than a week after telling his wife he was going to pay a bill.

Alfred Rogers, aged 65 from School Lane, Badsey, was last seen by his wife at 7pm on Wednesday, January 5.

The retired taxi driver had told her he was going to pay an outstanding debt, but has not been home since.

Officers are investigating the possibility that Mr Rogers, a grandfather, is in the Guiting Power or Hay-on-Wye areas of Gloucestershire.

He may be living on a caravan site, although he has no access to money other than what he can earn from casual work.

Police spokesman Richard Bull said: "Mr Rogers' disappearance is totally out of character and we are, therefore, anxious to trace him." He is described as white, 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build with short, dark brown hair with hazel eyes and grey glasses.

Mr Rogers, who talks with a Midlands accent, is normally clean-shaven and has a ragged scar on his nose.

He was wearing a blue BHS shirt, a Marks & Spencer tie, a khaki-coloured water-proof shooting jacket, dark grey trousers and size 9 black shoes.

The grandfather also drives a red Peugeot 306 estate car and police are keen to hear from anyone who has seen such a car appearing frequently in their area in the last week.
