A FUN-loving Bromsgrove woman celebrated her 101st birthday surrounded by her family.
Young at heart Gladys Crook saw in her birthday at Wayside Nursing Home, New Road, on Monday.
She grew up in Stoke Heath and attended Stoke Prior School.
Resilient Gladys, who lived through both World Wars, said: "Things have changed a lot. When I was younger children would walk around without any shoes on their feet. There is a lot more help for people today."
She went into service when she left school and worked as a maid in Bromsgrove and Birmingham.
Gladys then met her husband Arthur and they were married in St Michael's Church, Stoke Prior.
She had five brothers and two sisters and now has 13 great grandchildren.
Gladys, who has been at Wayside for only four months, after moving from sheltered accommodation, added: "I like it here, I have lots of friends and we have a laugh."
