A Brave woman faced up to a gunman who attempted to rob her home.

The victim was confronted at the back door of her home on Leigh Sinton Road, Malvern, by a man brandishing what appeared to be a long-barrelled revolver.

She refused to hand over any money, or let the man enter the house and pushed the gun aside, despite not knowing if it was real or not.

The man, who was wearing a balaclava over his face, then ran off in the direction of Newtown Road.

Police believe the gun may have been a replica. The incident happened at about 6pm on Saturday (February 8).

A police spokesman said: "Although this was an extremely terrifying experience for the victim, she did not give in to the man's demands and refused to co-operate with him in any way.

"Irrespective of whether a replica firearm was used, this was an extremely serious incident, which could have further repercussions, both for the victim and the man in question."

Police said they had arrested two men from an address in Upper Howsell Road on Monday, in connection with the incident.

They were later released after questioning.

A local Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, Mike Charles, who lives on nearby Somers Park Avenue, said: "It's the first I have heard of any incidents like this taking place in Malvern. It is very, very disturbing.

"A lot of my members have children and they will be frightened by this."
