MATHON, Cradley & Storridge (MCS) mixed A tennis team gained a hard-fought draw at Worcester Tennis Club.
In windy conditions Carol Dandy and Duncan Hannaford won their opening match 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 before losing their second rubber 4-6, 4-6.
In contrast the MCS pair Janet Brown and Phil Toghill lost their first rubber but came back strongly to win the final rubber 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 to secure the match draw.
MCS Men's A lost a hard-fought fixture at home against old rivals Ledbury A.
MCS club chairman Peter Flagg and Duncan Hannaford lost the opening rubber 6-0, 1-6, 2-6 against Patrick Brazil and Matt Baun. However Peter and Duncan hit back to win their next rubber 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 against the Ledbury pair Bob Mitchell and Martin Goodall.
The second MCS pair of Tony Dalley and Steve Meredith lost their first rubber 6-7, 5-7. However with the match result hanging in the balance, Tony and Steve were narrowly beaten by Patrick Brazil and Matt Baun 1-6, 7-6, 5-7 to secure the victory for Ledbury.
Despite the difficult conditions some fine tennis was played.
