JIMMY'S Band, a church orchestra with a difference, is playing at Cradley Village Hall later this month.
With guitarists, a bass player, a keyboard player and a drummer, Jimmy's is as much pop band as church orchestra. The gig at the village hall will include a wide range of popular music, including blues, pop and rock.
The band has musicians of all ages, including drummer Nel Holden, 17.
"It's nice to play with a band. We play a wide variety of music even though officially we're a church orchestra," said Nel.
Some of the nine-strong band will perform on their own or in small groups, including a saxophonist, guitarists and a rock group.
Jimmy's normally play at the monthly family service at St James' Church on the first Sunday of each month.
The band was formed more than three years ago and has taken part in two 24-hour Midsummer Musical Marathons in the village.
Band member Peter Warner said the wide age range of members was a bonus. "It's great to have so many young people involved," he said.
The concert is at Cradley Village Hall on Saturday, January 29, at 7.30pm Tickets cost £8 and include a chilli supper. They are available from Cradley Post Office.
