A RESIDENTIAL home in Worcester is preparing for its second 100-year-old birthday celebration in a year.
Edna Wilkes, nee Lamb, who lives at PALS Residential Care Home, will reach the magical century tomorrow.
She was born as one of seven siblings, in Dunhampton, near Kidderminster, where her family ran the Honey Bee public house.
She later married a Worcester builder - Dennis Wilkes - and has since spent most of her life in the city.
"She was a keen gardener when she could and used to keep in good shape," said Michael Sansom, her brother-in-law's cousin.
"She seems really happy at PALS and is looking forward to the day. It's quite an achievement to reach 100."
A small celebration is due to be held at the Ombersley Road residential home tomorrow.
On January 31, 2004, PALS celebrated the 100th birthday of another resident, Florence Falkingham.
