HUNDREDS of primary schoo pupils enjoyed a day of drama and story-telling as a former Worcester playwright returned to the city.
David Wood, the playwright, actor and author, read from his some of his nationally-acclaimed children's stories and dramatised extracts of Roald Dahl's most famous works at The King's School, Worcester.
More than 240 children from schools in and around the city took part in Thursday's event which King's hopes will be a regular feature in the school calendar.
Mr Wood, who lives in London, wrote his first play for youngsters, The Tinder Box, in 1967 when he was a member of the Worcester Rep at the Swan Theatre.
By 1973, seven of his works had premiered at the Swan.
