CUTNALL Green and Chaddesley Corbett swept the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League off to an exciting start with wins at the Royal Grammar School Worcester.

Droitwich's steady start was ripped apart as Paul Bryan (19), Nigel Haddock (0), Karl Goddard (3) and Garry Cartwright (0) departed quickly.

A partnership of 16 between opener Jerome Connor and Adrian Field made the scoreline look better but the latter was smartly stumped for 11.

Field (33 not out) brought respectability by scoring heavily off the final 24 balls to take the team to 91-5. Neil Griffiths (2-21), Paul Lyman (2-19) and Chambers (1-26) took the wickets.

In reply, Chaddesley crashed 60 swift runs and though Griffiths went for 17, Lyman and Chambers continued in fine form. Lyman retired on 25 not out and then Haddock, who took 2-33, bowled Kevin Truswell.

Jason Lowe only survived four balls before falling lbw to Cartwright but Chambers (16 not out) fired Chaddesley home with five balls left.

n Cutnall Green 142-5, Belbroughton 140-3. Cutnall Green won by one wicket.

Belbroughton, invited to bat first, got off to a 37-run start through opening pair Dave Haywood and Dan Attwood.

Haywood retired after a swift 28 not out and then Attwood departed for 13 in the fifth over.

Colin Baggs and James Perks added 30 runs off three overs before the latter retired on 25 not out but Andy Farmer and Andy Poutney departed for ducks.

Baggs also retired on 27 not out, while Haywood and Perks returned to bring their totals to 51 and 38 respectively and set a target of 141.

In reply, Green lost Matt Harris off the first ball but Neil Fletcher and Alfie Mamood crashed 63 from 4.4 overs.

Neil Evans added nine in two overs with Derek Higgins (1) who was bowled by Haywood (1-24) with the score on 79.

It had struck 104 by the end of the eighth over when Evans went for nine but Mamood and Dave Faulkner contributed 25 runs off 18 balls.

Mamood was run out for 40 and Faulkner 16 at the start of the final over but Fletcher guided Green home off the last ball of the innings.

n Avoncroft 112-3, RW Exiles 90-6. Avoncroft won by 22 runs.

Batting first, Avoncroft put on 18 runs before Matt Chapman bowled Rich Doodey for four.

Adrian Fox and Jon Bird took the score to 49 before the former was run out for 10 in the sixth over.

In the seventh over, Bird, with 27 not out from 22 balls, retired but they then lost Mark Whitehead for a duck.

Paul Athey and Adam Rodway (25 not out retired) produced 56 runs from 4.4 overs.

Then Bird (30 not out) joined Athey (17 not out) to guide Avoncroft to 112-3 with Exiles' Chapman taking 1-18 and Ryan Lane claiming 1-22.

Exiles were unable to get on top of the Avoncroft bowling attack.

Darren Clarke (3), Lane (10), Duncan Cooper (19) and Glen Collins (1) took the score to 49-4 but Graham Woodbridge and Chapman accelerated it to 79 in the 10th over.

Woodbridge (12) was run out and Chapman (23) lasted six more balls. Avoncroft's Rodway (1-21), Whitehead (1-27) and Bird (1-30) were successful.

n Colwall 140-4, The Fossils 96-6. Colwall won by 44 runs.

Tim Riley and Tom Wolfendale blasted 52 runs off 4.2 overs but Riley had to retire on 27 not out from 16 balls.

Wolfendale had to do likewise but Jordan Kontarinas and James Wagstaff flew along to 85 off 7.3 overs.

Wagstaff was run out for six and Henry McLernon went for a duck, leaving Andy Sutton and Kontarinas to keep the pace going.

Kontarinas ran himself out for 19 in the ninth over and Riley (33) returned to be stumped by Kevin Gilbert.

Wolfendale and Sutton took the score to 140-4 with Sutton 30 not out and Wolfendale 34 not out. Rich Williams (1-24) was the only successful bowler.

Gilbert (29) top scored for Fossils after Tim (7) and Rich Williams (2) made early steady progress.

Martin Woodward contributed 10 and Cliff Rawlings 13 as Riley (1-18) and Sutton (1-16) claimed wickets.
