SCHOOLS meals are set to come under the spotlight in Worcestershire this month as county chiefs examine the culture of healthy eating for pupils.
Worcestershire County Council's scrutiny steering group and education scrutiny panel will be looking at the meals children eat while at school over the coming months.
The group is set to meet tomorrow at County Hall in Spetchley Road to discuss the scope of the exercise.
It is now looking for as many people as possible to feed into the scrutiny process.
Councillor John Buckley, scrutiny steering group chairman, said the council had long recognised the type of meals provided to children was of great interest to the public.
"Residents are also interested in the amount of exercise children get.
Professionals
"The group has always endeavoured to involve the public and professionals, such as headteachers, governors and others, in scrutiny," he added.
"Hopefully, our findings will not only influence the correct strategy for those running our schools, but also provide some help for parents."
Anyone interested in getting involved in the exercise should contact the scrutiny team on 01905 766619.
