WORCESTERSHIRE completed their two-day friendly with Essex which finished in a draw at Chelmsford yesterday.
The home county made 299 in reply to Worcestershire's first innings total of 521 all out.
James Middlebrook top scored for Essex with 91, while he got good support from Ashley Cowan (42), James Foster (36), John Cook (30) and Andy Clarke (22).
Worcestershire were then again in good batting in their second innings.
Graeme Hick led the way with a fine 71, while there were also good contributions from Stephen Peters (22) and Stephen Moore (22) as Worcestershire reached 154-2 off just 23 overs by the close.
Meanwhile, England were left without any competitive practice prior to the one-day series against West Indies after their only warm-up match was washed out by heavy rain in Guyana yesterday.
Heavy rain overnight and on Friday washed out the fixture.
