UP-and-coming batsman Stephen Moore blasted 117 runs as Worcestershire Seconds picked up silverware yesterday with a convincing win.
The County defeated Essex by eight wickets in the Second XI Trophy final at New Road after dismissing their visitors for 241 runs from 49.1 overs.
Seven Essex players all progressed into double figures but were unable to make much impact with paceman Nadeem Malik (3-27) and spinner Shaftab Khalid (2-24) bowling particularly well.
In reply, South African-born opener Moore remained undefeated in a sterling display which brought Worcestershire home convincingly in 43.4 overs.
Skipper Kadeer Ali (58) forged a 117-run partnership with Moore and promising 18-year-old Steve Davies added 37no in a final winning stand of 96.
