VIKRAM Solanki hit his first one day century in the last 12 months to take Worcester Royals to victory at Oak-ham School and knock Leicestershire Foxes off the top of the totesport League second division table.

Solanki smashed 101 with eight fours and four sixes to steer the Royals to 261 for eight.

Then with Andrew Hall taking four for 26 the Royals had the Foxes reeling dismissing them for 137 to win by 124 runs.

Solanki was the only man to get beyond the 30 mark in the match after surviving a dropped slip catch when he was on 54.

He was put down by Darren Stevens off the bowling of Phil DeFreitas and made the Foxes pay for the miss with his first century since last June when he reached three figures for England in the international against South Africa.

Solanki dominated an opening stand of 78 off just 12 overs with Hall as the Royals made a flying start.

But when Hall went for 27 and the Foxes introduced their spinners, Claude Henderson and Jeremy Snape, the Royals' run rate slowed dramatically.

Solanki reached 50 off just 37 balls with six fours and two sixes but then took another 54 balls for his second 50.

After losing Darren Maddy in the second over and the prolific Brad Hodge for 17 in the seventh over the Foxes were never in the hunt.

All the Royals' bowlers performed splendidly with Hall taking four for 26 in seven overs and Andy Bichel conceding just 17 runs in his seven overs.

Top scorer for the Foxes was their captain DeFreitas who was last man out having made 26.
