MEMBERS of Bromsgrove District Council were to take a close look at the town brook with a view to cleaning it out to prevent flooding.
BROMSGROVE'S new pain relief clinic was proving to be a boon for sufferers of many conditions, ranging from tennis elbow to neuralgia. Referrals to the unit, which was at Hill Top Hospital and was run by Dr Mukerji, were made by town GPs and consultants from other local hospitals. Increased use was being made there of homeopathic and so-called fringe medicines.
THE present big freeze had caught the district council on the hop. There were just two men on hand to deal with hundreds of requests from tenants to repair burst tanks and pipes. A plan was to be drawn up to cope with similar situations in future.
SCHOOLS in the district, which had recently escaped having to close due to the fuel tanker drivers' strike, were fearful they would have to turn pupils away after all now that public service workers threatened industrial action. Unfortunately, the county council had no idea how many of its workers belonged to the union NUPE so was unable to say how many schools would be affected.
