MARK Ramprakash and Jimmy Ormond combined to put relegation-threatened Surrey on the brink of a much-needed Frizzell County Championship Division One win against Worcestershire.

Ramprakash made 100 not out in Surrey's 329 for five declared, adding to his 130 in the first innings, as they set Tom Moody's men 410 to win at The Oval.

Ormond then dismissed both openers and dangerman Graeme Hick as Worcestershire slumped to 27 for four at the close.

Stephen Peters dragged the last ball of Ormond's first over onto his leg stump, while Stephen Moore went leg before.

Then Azhar Mahmood had night-watchman Kabir Ali snapped up before Ormond yorked Hick for five.

Earlier, Ramprakash was allowed to complete his century before Surrey captain Jonathan Batty declared on 329 for five.

The former England player hit nine fours and two sixes in his 120-ball knock. It was the fifth time he had recorded centuries in both innings of a game and his fourth century in the last three matches.

Worcestershire put all nine fielders on the boundary towards the end of the innings but it was still not enough to contain Ramprakash.

The County's tail had not offered much resistance yesterday as it added only 14 runs to the overnight 281 for eight.
