TWO quick wickets today wrapped up Worcestershire's first innings for 295 runs at Surrey in Frizzell County Championship Division One.

The dismissals of Matt Mason and Nadeem Malik on the third day at The Oval left the County 80 runs behind their hosts who had been bowled out for 375, with Mark Ramprakash (130) top scoring, after batting first.

Mason departed for 13 runs to an Alex Tudor catch off Azhar Mahmood's bowling before Malik, claimed by Ali Brown from a Jimmy Ormond delivery, followed for a duck in the 78th over.

It left wicketkeeper Steve Rhodes unbeaten four runs short of his half-century after Tudor had earlier spared Surrey's blushes on his first championship appearance of the season following injury.

The England paceman took four for 61 to drag them back into the game, including three wickets in three overs to reduce the visitors from 159 for one to 167 for five.

Opener Stephen Moore had already retired hurt when Tudor started to make inroads after ducking into a Ormond delivery and being cut above his eye.

Moore later returned to the wicket to see his side past the follow-on figure but he was out to Tudor's second ball of his third spell when he spooned a catch to mid-on after scoring 76 from 146 balls.

Former Essex batsman Stephen Peters made 74 from 75 balls with 13 fours and a six before edging Mahmood to Jon Batty with the score on 116 in the 22nd over.

Graeme Hick (39) kept the momentum going but saw Richard Clinton take a sharp catch when he smashed the second ball of Tudor's second spell to extra cover.

Tudor then bowled Vikram Solanki for a duck and, after Ormond had done the same to Ben Smith (four), he had Andrew Hall caught at first slip by Brown for five.

Tudor then put his fielding hat on to dismiss Kabir Ali with a superb one-handed catch at second slip off Azhar before Moore left the care of the Worcestershire physio to steady the ship with Rhodes.
