MORE than 2,000 spectators turned up at New Road last night to support director of cricket Tom Moody's Twenty20 Testimonial match between Worcestershire and a World Xl.
Moody played for the World Xl and scored 23 in the side's total of 240-8.
The County's Andrew Hall and Andy Bichel were both included in the World team and scored 44 and 29 respectively.
Rookie New Road paceman David Wigley took 3-49, including Hall.
Worcestershire, in reply, made 219-7 with Graeme Hick leading the way by smacking 63 off 33 balls.
David Leatherdale back-ed him up by cracking 51 off 33 deliveries.
Their efforts lifted the County to 219-7 -- not enough to prevent the World Xl from clinching victory by 21 runs.
The match, however, provided Worcestershire with an ideal way to warm up for their Twenty20 Cup campaign which begins on Friday with a sell-out match against Gloucestershire at New Road.
