DURING Droitwich's Remembrance Day service, Alderman Mrs J Adenbrooke unveiled a plate on the war memorial bearing the names of those who died during the two world wars. For an hour before the service began a guard of honour was mounted by two veterans from the first war and two who served in the second.
GARDEN sheds, their numbers and their condition was occupying the minds of councillors on Bromsgrove Urban District Council. A survey of council houses at Rigby Lane and Burcot Lane had revealed one household had five sheds and that 11 were so dilapidated they needed demolishing.
CONCERN about the future of British farming and the continuing drift away from the land for better paid jobs in towns was highlighted at a meeting in Bromsgrove Church Hall on Saturday night. It was organised by the agricultural workers union and Bromsgrove Trades Council. The union was campaigning for £1 a week rise for members to give them a minimum of £7 per week.
BROMSGROVE Rovers just failed to make it through to the first round proper of the FA Cup for the fourth time since the war, when they lost 2-1 away to Hinckley on Saturday.
GUY Fawkes' night traditions were kept alive at Stoke Prior when youngsters, in full song, processed behind the school band around the village. They returned to a field adjacent to the school where, clutching sparklers, they watched the lighting of the big fire.
