A BROMSGROVE man appeared at Bow Street Court, London, charged on remand with committing wilful and corrupt perjury. William Robert Reece, a commission agent, was charged with perjury when giving evidence in support of a claim he brought against London and North Western Railway Company for £5,000 because of personal injury. He protested he was totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other and couldn't fully hear the questions asked of him at the claims hearing. He was found to be shamming after being tested by a doctor. He was accused and remanded.

AN inquest was held at Stepney coroners' court concerning the death of Charles Arnold, 65, of Johns Hill. Dr Ernest Habbyam found the deceased's body was greatly emaciated. The court heard how Mr Arnold had been ill and how he and his wife had to sell belongings to afford food. The jury found that he died of starvation.

A MEETING to discuss the proposed creation of the Lickey and District Horticultural Society was chaired by the Vicar, Rev M G Mosse. The meeting proposed and carried that the society would be started and would be run by a president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and 25 members.
