MORE than 25 years of service to people with learning difficulties were rewarded when Fred Middleton came runner-up in a nationwide competition.
Mr Middleton who set up and runs the Thursday Activity Club at the Perryfield Centre in Stanley Road, Worcester, was nominated by a colleague for his service to the community in an award run by Blackpool Tower.
"I find it very fulfilling," said Mr Middleton, of Newtown Road, Worcester. "It's nice to be recognised and it helps to inspire other people to do something in the community."
Mr Middleton, who has organised discos and trips for the club's members since 1980 said he had a "passionate belief in doing something to help."
He won theatre tickets and passes to Blackpool Tower.
