THE question of payment to walk on the towpath of the canal at Hopwood was again discussed by Alvechurch Parish Council on Monday.
One councillor said he had deliberately walked along the path hoping to be asked for his licence, or for payment, but had seen no one.
Mr J Savage said that since the matter had been given prominence in the press, there had been an easing off in the restrictions.
A letter was read from the Inland Waterways Association which said there was the legal right of way on the towpaths.
The Worcestershire Parish Council's Association said the Transport Commission was enforcing an old law, which had been in operation for years, but had not previously been enforced.
