COMMUNITY-spirited Wyre Forest people will be using pedal power to raise money for charity on a special push bike.

They will be riding the Fumair Flyer - one of the biggest bikes in the world - to raise money for Kemp Hospice.

It is the first - and possibly the last - time the record-breaking bike will be in the town and organisers are urging people to come and see the cycle at its changeover points or on its route.

Kemp events co-ordinator, Pam Smout, said: "This is an opportunity of a lifetime to witness this incredible cycling machine as it may never be in Kidderminster again."

The cycle, which seats 24, will be arriving at Hurrans Garden Centre, Blakedown on Saturday, ready for the first Kemp Hospice team to get on board and cycle to Weavers Wharf in Kidderminster.

From the shopping centre, the second team will take the bike to Stourport and the third will head on to Bewdley.

On Sunday, different teams will do the journey in reverse.

Mrs Smout said a few places were still available for anyone who fancied riding the unique bike.

Anyone interested should call Kemp fund-raising on 01562 865105 and people wanting to see the bike should go to either Weavers Wharf on Saturday at about 2.30pm and Sunday at 11am or Hurrans Garden Centre at about 12.30pm on Saturday.

"We are also asking people to look out for the bike in Stourport and Bewdley, where we will be doing bucket collections as we travel through," Mrs Smout said.

The bike ride is a joint event with Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.
