RESIDENTS living in a Redditch road may have to fork out £50 a year to park outside their own homes.
That is if the county council goes ahead with plans to restrict parking in Lodge Road to residents who "buy" parking permission.
Hereford and Worcestershire Highways Authority claims rows of parked cars are obstructing traffic.
To solve the problem of congestion, the authority wants "no parking" signs put up and to issue residents with permits giving them permission to park - and they will cost about £50 each.
In a bid to save the residents from paying up, Redditch District Council has proposed to run the scheme itself.
But the county council will be meeting later this month to make a final decision.
