William Pye, a tramp in custody, was charged with being drunk in Evesham Street on June 13th and with begging in Prospect Hill on the 10th inst.
Pc Overton gave evidence of seeing the prisoner in a drunken condition in Evesham Street.
He said he had nowhere to go and witness locked him up.
Mrs Gittus said the prisoner went to her house and asked for alms on June 10th.
Prisoner pleaded guilty to both charges.
He said he was unable to work as he had lost three of the fingers of his right hand.
For the first offence the, Bench fined him 2s 6d and 4s costs, or seven days, and for the second offence he was sentenced to three days' imprisonment.
