REDDITCH'S scenic views of Warwickshire and the Malvern Hills are to be saved.
After much deliberation, Hereford and Worcester County Council agreed to keep the Ridgeway Policy set up in the 1950s to control development in that area in its development control plan.
The Ridgeway runs from the Stratford Road junction of the A442 to the southern boundary of the Redditch district.
Its natural attractiveness and its proximity to the urban area to the north made it particularly vulnerable to pressure for further scattered development.
Residents who live near the Ridgeway were reportedly delighted with the county council's decision.
