Nice blokes, The Finn Brothers. They drink what appears to be mugs of tea on stage, sing songs about how they grew up together, loved their mum and cherish their families and give fans the hits which made them famous as one half of Crowded House.

Monday's show was the three Ps which famed musicians usually shy away from - polite, professional and polished. The majority of their songs are lightweight pop and work as the duo's stock in trade, with harmonies and powerful choruses which clearly thrilled the seated crowd.

The up-tempo numbers, especially those with a hard rock edge, were less successful but old Crowded House numbers including Weather With You, Four Seasons In One Day and Distant Sun quickly banished any worries about an outbreak of serious shoe-gazing.

Confident numbers from their new album Everyone Is Here sat well alongside older material and cheeky banter between the Midlands audience and the New Zealand duo gave the evening a convivial air.

The brothers have a combined age of almost 100 but their voices showed no signs of ageing. Older brother Tim was determined to stomp around the stage like a wild-eyed frontman half his age while Neil seemed thrilled to play the guitar-hero when the riff to Weather With You brought an ecstatic response from his fans.
