ENVIRONMENTALLY-friendly pupils have planted a tree each at a Worcester school.
Norton-Juxta-Kempsey CE First School pupils were given a choice of oak, ash and silver birch trees as part of a school ground development project.
The youngsters have named the trees and have been given the responsibility of looking after them until they leave school.
The project also included building a giant sandpit, a tunnel network and a vegetable garden.
The initiative is the brainchild of the Parents and Teachers Association.
"The idea is to create a haven for wildlife while creating a fun place for the children to play," said mum Fiona Narburgh, whose children Billy, aged eight, and Ellis, seven, go to the Wadborough Road-based school.
"The children have had a very exciting time doing all these things and the finished product is wonderful."
