REDDITCH Swimming Club got a taste of life in the Nuneaton Diddy League when they came up against five other first division clubs in the Ginger North Relay Gala at Leamington.
Despite the tough competition Redditch finished a creditable fourth position behind Haden Hill, Leamington and Perry Beeches.
The nine year olds age group of Taylor Hartley, Joshua Major-Seager, Simon Hotchkin, David Green, Lydia May, Abigail Enston, Sasha Knibbs and Amy Foster made a great start with the boys taking the breaststroke relay and the group adding another two second and three third places.
The 12 year old girls team of Bethany May, Lucy Knibbs, Sophie Parkins and Danielle Harwood came first in the breaststroke relay and second in the medley while the boys swam up in age alongside Robert Stanley and registered some competitive performances.
In the 11 year olds category Harriet Lennon, Olivia Laxton, Michaela Britt and Sophie Randall came second in the girls freestyle and third in the breaststroke and medley.
The boys Lewis Biddle, Jan Freihammer, James Green and Chris Ball came third in the freestyle and there was a further third in the mixed freestyle.
The 10 year olds age group of Daniel Strange, Robert Newlyn, Brandon Dunn, James Scott, Cassandra Robinson, Bethany Austin, Hannah Rolls and Sophie Bridgman added a third place in the boys breaststroke.
The evening ended in rousing fashion as two boys and two girls from each age group competed and lead the 16 x1 length freestyle relay from the start and won in convincing style.
