AFTER SITTING through an extraordinary Droitwich Town Council meeting in mid- December, which was brought to agree a motion to support the lido proposals from SALT, in principle, I looked up in a dictionary the meaning of 'principle'.
It states, 'a moral rule, settled reason of action, uprightness, fundemental truth or element'.
I wondered how responsible people could possibly have voted for the proposals in principle. We are not yet in receipt of full facts which is why the public presentation was postponed until the New Year, so why should we - as town councillors - make rash decisions without a full picture particularly the impact financially on the people of Wychavon?
I would urge any member of the public who is concerned about an increase in their community charge in the near future to check out the SALT proposals for the lido. It clearly states that any shortfall financially will be met by the community charges.
Mark my words, this could be pounds not pence, and could increase annually. I abstained from voting at Monday's meeting because I am not comfortable with subjecting Wychavon and yes, more importantly, Droitwich residents the possibility of unnecessary financial burden.
