Kings Norton 11
Edwardians 31
THE Kings men were dumped out of the cup at the first time of asking against some stiff opposition in the form of higher league Edwardians.
But it was the last ten minutes that cost Norton after conceding 14 points to kill off any chance of a cup upset.
Edwardians got the breakthrough inside the first five minutes after fly half Ken Whitehouse had a clearance kick charged down and the opposing fly half touched down.
Whitehouse struck back with points of their own soon after when he made amends with a penalty and with five minutes of the half remaining as Matt James chased a kick and picked up to score in the wing.
But Edwardians would have the last laugh of the half as they scored a converted try to take the scores to 8-12 at the break.
Whitehouse soon kicked his second penalty to close the gap to one point minutes after the restart before the visitors got their third try of the afternoon on 52 minutes and ended the game on a high with two scores in the dying seconds of the game.
There will be a mouthwatering top of the table clash at Ash Lane on Saturday when Kings take on Stourbridge Lions, in a game which could well decide the North Midlands One championship (KO 2.45pm).
Kings Norton 2nds embarrassed Warley 2nds 73-0 with the referee blowing his whistle early to avoid further score.
Kings 3rds lost to Bournville 3rds 20-0.
