MARK Starr's attempt to use the tsunami, in all its horror, as an implement with which to beat the European Union is contemptible (Evening News, Monday,January 10).
Britain does not "give" the EU anything. We pay a subscription in the same way as an individual would pay to an organisation of which he/she is a member.
When this correspondent says the UK pays the EU £30m net per day he is plucking figures out of the air. Where does he get his facts from?
Let's have some details. Mr Starr's tactics are typical of the UKIP of which he appears to be a spokesman.
