TO hear that Hednesford Town have been drawn away to my former club Burton Albion in the next round of the FA Trophy just rubs salt into the wound.
But you have to be in it to pass comment, so we now have to draw a line under Saturday's defeat in the competition and get on with other matters.
I didn't think we deserved to get beaten by Hednesford -- but then we didn't do enough to win the game either. To me it was very much like the Nuneaton match. I thought we controlled the first 35 minutes and it needed two good saves from their goalkeeper to keep them in it.
I didn't see them posing any sort of threat until they scored. Their centre-back hit a shot the like of which he will never hit again until he hangs his boots up.
They then had another couple of chances on the break but you expect that -- it is part and parcel when you are chasing a game.
Danny McDonnell again pulled off some fine saves late on. He produced a display similar to that in the game at Ashton. But you have to expect gaps to appear when you are chasing the game.
We are not scoring goals but confidence is what is really lacking -- it is the biggest individual aspect of everyone's game. And the problem is that once confidence has gone, it takes a while to build back again.
There is no magic formula and no magic wand to wave -- if there was I wish someone would let me know.
At times like this you have to stand up and be counted.
We are not having the best of things at the moment but when it turns around for us -- and it will because bad runs come to an end just as good ones do -- it will probably have nothing to do with what we have done, it will just happen.
Going back to Saturday's game, it is disappointing because we saw the game as a winnable tie, as I'm sure Hednesford did. The game presented us with a good chance of progressing in the competition.
We put in a reasonable display and I think, on the day, a draw would have been the fairest result.
The support from the City fans who had made the trip to Hednesford on Saturday was absolutely fantastic and that support alone deserved to earn a second chance at St George's Lane.
All we can do now is to wish Hednesford all the best at Burton Albion in the next round.
As for making the trip to Eton Park myself, I'm not so sure.
It would have been nice to have taken Worcester City down there so I will probably leave it at that.
