A CLINIC in a Bromsgrove village will be closed for six months for much-needed refurbishment work.

Redditch and Bromsgrove Primary Care Trust is to spend £300,000 upgrading the shabby Catshill Clinic, situated in The Dock. The building dates back to the 1960s.

The work will ensure that the premises meet new Disability Discrimination Act requirements, as well as improving security and facilities for patients and staff. The work includes the addition of two new offices for district nurses.

During the closure, which is set to start this month, the baby clinic will be moving to Catshill Village Hall, in Golden Cross Lane. It will run from 10.30am to noon on Tuesdays.

The post-natal group will run on Tuesdays from 12.30-2pm. Further details regarding these groups can be obtained from 01527 488320.

Meanwhile, milk sales and vouchers will be available at the reception desk at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital, off Stourbridge Road in Bromsgrove, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

School nurses will be moved to temporary accommodation, which has been generously provided by Catshill First School.

Gillian Entwistle, deputy chief executive for the PCT, said: "We hope that this temporary closure will not cause too much disruption for the people who attend Catshill Clinic.

"The refurbishment will improve the building for staff and patients and also improve security with extra lighting and a fence. The work is scheduled to be completed on June 6."
