I HAVE been a long time campaigner against local antisocial behaviour. I would just like to congratulate Redditch Council and the Government for the excellent work they are undertaking within our communities.
They have just started a clean-up campaign in Abbeydale.
In my own close, graffiti is being removed, new fences erected, paths and parking areas re-surfaced and trees and bushes being pruned or removed, along with abandoned vehicles.
This is part of the Government's campaign against antisocial behaviour.
First, identify the troublemakers, serve them with ASBOs and, if necessary, remove them from the area.
Money can then be invested in improving the community without the fear of vandals trashing the area again.
When I moved to the area eight years ago, there were more than 20 junked cars outside my back door, fences were falling to bits and hedges and kerbs were overgrown with shrubs and weeds.
Now its looks a picture. Thank you to those concerned.
