FORGE Mill Museum kicks off its new season with an exhibition looking at romantic love through an exceptional collection of Victorian Valentine cards.
The exhibition will look at how and why the tradition began, who sent the first card and whether people nowadays realise many cards sent in Victorian times were actually insulting to the recipient.
There will also be a chance to win a romantic meal for two by entering a competition to write a love story.
On Sunday, February 6, there will be a free family fun day to coincide with the launch of the new exhibition.
There will be a range of children's activities, a competition and the chance to meet Roz Goddard, Poet Laureate of Birmingham, who will read some of the world's most romantic poems.
Residents can join in by bringing along their favourite romantic poem.
Refreshments, including traditional Victorian gingerbread hearts, will be available.
Anyone who wants to enter the love story competition can call the museum on 62509 for an entry form.
