BROMSGROVE Swimming Club won the race for second place in the opening round of the Worcester League Division One on Saturday.
Up against a strong Worcester team at home Bromsgrove were always going to be vying for the runners-up spot - which they sealed with a powerful performance.
The under-11s mixed 6x1 relay team of Alice Alton, Joe Wright, Ellie Williams, Steven Muddiman, Aimee Fisher and Dan Scarr handed Bromsgrove a steady start by finishing fourth.
The relay team improved one place in the freestyle event to come third.
Richie Edmunds won the under-13s 100 metres backstroke, while sister Lucie took the open race to set the gala alight.
Muddiman was victorious in the under-11s 50m butterfly, but Bromsgrove were still trailing Stourbridge.
Second and third places for Emily McNally (under-15 100m freestyle), Neil Goodman (open 100m butterfly), Will Baker (under-13s 100m butterfly) and Fran Carlson (under-15s 100m freestyle) kept the team's momentum going.
A second place for Lizzie Sydenham in the under-15s 100m backstroke edged Bromsgrove ahead of Stourbridge.
Kevin Wall won the backstroke in the under-15s age category, while Vicky Law was second in the under-14s 100m freestyle.
Captain Stuart Corbett and Lisa Harrison won the open breastroke races, before Bromsgrove sealed 163 points and second place with success in the relays.
