WORK on a "striking" steel sculpture detailing Alcester's history and heritage was completed at the weekend.
Alcester Heritage Trust's steel frieze, displayed on the side of Globe House, depicts Roman symbols, a sword, jars with olives and a gold brooch enveloped in a border of grape vines.
Chairman of Alcester Heritage Trust, David Moulson, said the sculpture was a prestigious piece of public artwork the town could be proud of.
He said: "It's big, bold and striking and you can't miss it. The sculpture reflects the town's civic pride and gives Alcester an identity."
Mr Moulson said the sculpture, which is 27ft long and 9ft high, had been planned for two years to fill the empty space on the side of the building.
Funding from Warwickshire County Council's Arts Service, Grass Roots Funding for West Midlands Art, as well as various local organisations, had enabled the Heritage Trust to commission sculptor Andy Hazell.
Mr Moulson said: "Mr Hazell is a very experienced sculptor and we selected him from 200 applicants. He has worked hard and everything has gone very smoothly."
