GREEN fingered residents of Worcestershire are being urged to donate plants to help with the restoration of the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall.
Una Dunnett, the chairman of the Hosta and Hemerocallis Society for Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire said they want people to donate Hosta plants to help with the renovation of the gardens.
The gardens, created mainly in the 19th Century, were one of the finest gardens in England of their period, with 57 acres of planted gardens, around 100 acres of ornamental woodlands, and 300 acres of rides.
However, in the decades after the Second World War they were not altered by any modernisation until 1990.
"It was a lost garden, which nobody knew about. Since being found it has been totally renovated," said Mrs Dunnett, of Windermere Drive, Warndon.
To donate a hosta, contact Mrs Dunnett on 01905 25043.
