The Kidderminster branch held a celebration to mark the occasion of the club's 75th anniversary.
Jan Harrigan from the Swan Rescue Centre gave an insight into her work, rescuing swans from traumatic accidents and incidents. She described the medical and after-care injured swans receive, before recovering sufficiently to be returned to the wild, or to a suitable location.
Swan Rescue is a voluntary organisation so running costs of around £30,000 per year have to be raised by fund-raising projects and donations.
Following on from this talk, the club's deputy chairman, Bert Coleman, will give an illustrated talk entitled "Mute Swans" at the indoor meeting on Wednesday at St Oswald's Church centre, Kidderminster, starting at 7.30pm. Non-members are always welcome at meetings.
On Sunday, January 30 there will be a field trip to the RSPB Sandwell Valley nature reserve, meeting at the visitors' centre at 10am.
