ESCALATING numbers of problems between couples have prompted a specialist relationship support agency to call for more volunteers in Kidderminster.
The appeal has gone out from Relate, which traditionally finds January and February busy months for calls from people going through troubles in their relationships, in the wake of the festive season.
Worries over money or debt or coping with awkward relatives cause tensions that Relate tries to help couples address.
Annette Summers, deputy chief executive of Relate Worcestershire, said: "Our work in Worcestershire has seen an increase and we averaged 90 new cases each month in 2004 and, in the first 10 days of January, we have had 40 new cases. Relate reaches more than three million people a year across the UK and, in Worcestershire, we provide advice and support for couples, individuals, young people and family relationships."
Anyone who can spare a few hours each month can call 01905 28051 or 01905 23597.
