Aston University 2,
Pershore 7
AFTER the festive break, Pershore got their Coaching Solutions League promotion hunt back on track last weekend.
The away side took the lead early on after a good move down the right flank by brothers Jamie and Matt Hughes who hit the byline and cut the ball back to James Rayner on the back post.
He unselfishly passed to Gareth Rushton who finished with a reverse stick flick.
The second goal came soon after from Jamie Hughes and by half-time it was 4-0 after another goal for Rushton and one for Richard Lisle.
However, this didn't reflect the flow of the half and only the brilliance of Stuart White in the Pershore goal and tireless defending from Peter Powell, Andy Wright and Rob Curley preventing the undergraduates from scoring.
The second half started in a similar vein with the midfield dynamos of Graeme Rushin and Toby Whiting controlling the game, allowing Rushton, Lisle and Matt Hughes to again find the net.
Aston then really dug in and had their best period of the game during which they converted two set-pieces.
Despite a less than convincing display, the winners will be happy with the result ahead of Saturday's game at home to Ludlow.
Other result: Pershore III 1, Kidderminster 5.
