ETTINGSHALL HOLY TRINITY 2, MALVERN TOWN 1

MALVERN Town slipped to a surprise 2-1 Banks's Brewery League Premier Division defeat at lowly Ettingshall last Saturday.

Despite controlling the majority of the game, Town paid the ultimate price for two defensive errors and a host of missed chances.

After 20 minutes of Malvern domination, when Nick Clayton (twice) and John Wade might have given the lead, keeper Adam Moss let a harmless looking free kicks slip through his hands to allow the home side the simplest of tap in opportunities.

Town, however, quickly got back into the game when Darren Tafft struck a 30th minutes equaliser after his first effort had come back off the keeper's legs.

During the second period Town should have put the game out of reach of the home side but failed to convert a number of gilt edged chances.

But, despite being reduced to ten men following a rare sending off, it was Ettingshall who went ahead in the 70th minute, when a rare foray into the Malvern penalty area was not dealt with adequately by the defence and the ball was slipped past Moss for the deciding goal.

In the closing moments both Tafft and John Wade spurned great chances, but it was not to be as Malvern's inconsistent league form continues to haunt them.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the first team have no game, whilst the Reserves are at home to Droitwich St Peters in the WFA Cup, ko 3pm
